THE RICH ALSO CRY; THE STRONG ALSO BECOME WEAK.
In a world where we have a lot of people with different issues everyone is battling with, I think it is harsh to call someone strong. We live in a society where the other gender(males) has been tagged as strong, because of this a lot of men find it hard to express how they truly feel or talk about what they are (have been) going through. They end up with bottled emotions and they seem very angry all the time. I really don’t blame them because I know how it actually feels to be tagged strong and living up to that reputation and not letting anyone down (you must not be caught “unfresh”). It has gotten to the point where the real crybabies (like myself) have to from strong lady and act cool with all the nonsense going on around you. People that on a normal day, the best way we handle situations well is crying (even at any small inconvenience) will have to start acting all matured and big girls don’t cry or start having the “you are a man, you can’t be crying” syndrome. I’m not advocating that people should start crying in “ekun egbere” (I’m sorry if you don’t understand Yoruba). All I’m saying is you cannot be strong all the time, take it easy on yourself, relax and don’t let this crazy world injure you. I was recently invited for an interview and I was asked if I can work under pressure, I said I don’t work under pressure because I’ll end up doing rubbish. Take your time and do it your own way. One more thing is people that call others strong and gives them a standard to live up to, can you like stop doing that and stop putting this pressure on people. If you can’t help people stop telling them “you’ll be fine” or “I trust you, you are strong” all the time, help them find a solution. On behalf of we the so called “strong people” we don’t want to hear those words again, join us in finding solutions. My fellow “strong people” it is okay to let people down sometimes and cry your eyes out, it is okay to speak out and express how you feel, it is okay to be weak at times. The rich also cries; the strong also become weak.
